The Return Of The Spaghetti Strap

Growing up in the nighties, I only remember too well the Spaghetti Strap. A tiny, thin, round strap, most commonly seen on camisoles, which made wearing underwear hard and had a habit of slipping off your shoulder. This summer the spaghetti strap has become THE strap of the season. Flash back to Kate Moss back in her party era of the nighties. We will all remember that slinky metallic see-through dress she wore; accompanied by a broken strap. This season the high-street have taken that as inspiration and given us a fantastic range of 90′s flashback pieces.

My favourites come from Whistles, who showed us a beautiful collection of slinky, paper-thin, metallic dresses and camis. All beautifully made interesting with seam work, and of course, that spaghetti strap.

At Topshop we saw back in September mosaic printed, spaghetti strap, patchwork dresses at the Unique SS14 show. This has trickled down to their core line – as this week we see a great selection of cute summer spaghetti strap camis, in prints and silks. Works perfectly with a pair of skinny jeans and pool sliders.

Also on the high-street this week – &otherstories gives us fabulous straight column dresses, both printed and plain, with the strap doing the talking, and wonderful double strap silk camis that work perfectly with any bottom.
