So the Resort SS15 shows have now begun. As usual florals seem to be a strong contender for Spring, however this season we see florals taken back to the 70′s. Strong, bold prints which remind me a wallpaper and vintage fabrics.
At Chanel, we see simple hand drawn florals, that look they’ve come straight out of a 70′s illustrated book. Florals are patch-worked Into trapeze shape coats, and are layered up – playing on textures. Floral knitwear over dresses over trousers – all displaying the same floral design and colours. Magical. Bellowing chiffon pants add fun volume and knitwear teamed over dresses adds a slight kitsch to the show.
At Louis Vuitton, again this strong Retro-Floral with a nod towards the 70′s is seen. Strong bold floral prints are seen, again so simple that they appear to have been drawn. Vuitton has created even more of a 70′s vibe with yellow-glass sunglasses and fit-and-flare tailoring. Florals are seen head-to-toe on suits – perhaps a little too retro for some. However teaming florals with black leather – Vuitton has successfully created something modern and fun that I certainly would want to wear. My favourite look; a gorgeous zip front dress in a beautiful dark floral print, finished off with what appears to be a snake embossed leather peplum. 70s Retro at its best.
